VALLETTA, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Salvatore Schillaci, the surprise star of the 1990 FIFA World Cup who went on to score six goals and claimed the Golden Boot as the leading goalscorer, confirmed to take part in the President's Solidarity Fun Run held in Malta on upcoming Sunday, media reports shows.
Schillaci, together with Francesco Mariottini, a very popular Italian dancer from Italian TV show Amici and many other local personalities, will run along thousand of runners who will take on the run from the Presidential Palace.
The President's Solidarity Fun Run, which has successfully been holding for 5 consecutive years, is organised by the Malta Community Chest Fund aimed at promoting solidarity among people living in Malta. The Fund, which is chaired by the President of Malta, supports institutions and organisations that provide financial, material and professional support to people experiencing difficulties because of severe chronic or terminal illness, including cancer, disability, poverty, unemployment or lack of resources, without any form of discrimination.
It will also be the first time for the President of Malta Marie Preca to hold the Fun Run since she took oath on April 4th, 2014.
