BERLIN, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm underwent a successful surgery on a broken right ankle on Thursday, the Bundesliga champions said.
Bayern announced Lahm's surgery in a statement: "He (Lahm) successfully underwent surgery on Thursday morning. The fracture was repaired and fixed using a surgical plate and screw. Lahm will spend the next few days in hospital and has been ordered to rest his right leg for several weeks before starting a sports rehab program."
Lahm broke his ankle in training Tuesday and is sidelined for up to three months. He will not return until after the winter break.
Other players on coach Pep Guardiola's injury list include Javi Martinez, Thiago Alcantara, David Alaba, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Holger Badstuber.
Bayern lead the Bundesliga by four points ahead of Wolfsburg after 11 rounds.
