BERLIN, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Aaron Ramsey's header smoothed the way for Arsenal's 1-0 triumph on the road over Dortmund at outsold Signal Iduna Park, in group F of Champions League on Wednesday.
Both teams staged slow and unexciting first half whereas the second half turned into a fast paced and high intensity encounter. Ramsey's opener ensured that both sides got their offenses going.
The Gunners had a ball possession of 53 percent during the first half. Nonetheless, it were the home side that created the only noteworthy opportunity through Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Armenian international had just Arsenals goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny to beat but pulled just wide from inside the box at the 37th minute.
Things changed at the second half as Dortmund pressed the visitors into defence as Marco Reus and Jakub Blaszczykowski tested Arsenals keeper Szczesny twice.
However, Arsenal snatched the lead out of the blue when Ramsey's header from close range found the back of the net, following Olivier Giroud's assist at the 62nd minute.
The visitors capitalised on their momentum and were capable to work out golden opportunities. Meanwhile Dortmund frenetically pressed for the equalizer. But, all their efforts remained fruitless as Arsenal were able to make the game safe.
As a consequence, the Premier League leaders keep control of group F as they sit atop the standings with three victories, followed by Napoli, Dortmund and Marseille.
"We were not able to turn things around. But, that's soccer, Arsenal scored with their first chance while we failed to turn our chances into goals," Dortmund coach Juergen Klopp said after the second loss of his side.
