DEBRECEN, Hungary, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Paul Biedermann of Germany and Sarah Sjostrom of Sweden picked up their second gold medals of the week among the five awarded on day three of the 2012 European Swimming Championships in Debrecen on Wednesday.
In the men's 200m freestyle final, Biedermann stormed home with a time of one minute 46.27 seconds. Amaury Leveaux of France came second (1:47.69) ahead of Hungary's Dominik Kozma (1:47.72).
Hungarian swimming hero Laszlo Cseh pleased the home fans by winning gold in the 200m individual medley final in 1:56.66, ahead of James Goddard of Britain (1:57.84) and Markus Rogan of Austria (1:59.39).
Gregorio Paltrinieri of Italy won the 1,500m freestyle final (14:48.92). Hungary could also cheer silver and bronze medals as Gergo Kis (14:58.15) and Gergely Gyurta (15:04.38) followed the Italian in.
In the women's events, Germany's Sarah Poewe won the 100m breaststroke final in 1:07.33 ahead of Jennie Johansson of Sweden (1:07.85) and Marina Garcia Urzainqui of Spain (1:07.91).
Sjostrom won her second final of the week in the 100m freestyle event with a time of 53.61 seconds. Britta Steffen of Germany came second (54.15) with her compatriot Daniela Schreiber finishing third (54.41).
