BEIJING, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese military official on Tuesday urged the United States and China to control their disputes properly.
Fan Changlong, vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission, told visiting U.S. Security Advisor Susan Rice in Beijing that the U.S. military should reduce and ultimately stop "close-in reconnaissance."
"We hope the U.S. can promote the healthy development of new China-U.S. military ties with concrete actions," Fan said.
Rice, who is visiting to prepare for U.S. President Barack Obama's trip to an APEC meeting in Beijing in November, said the U.S. and China need to reduce existing differences, seek new ways to cooperate, and deepen military relations.
