NAIROBI, April 3 (Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese legislator on Tuesday met Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki and pledged to deepen the bilateral cooperation.
Hua Jianmin, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China, conveyed greetings and wishes from Chinese President Hu Jintao to Kibaki.
Hua said the bilateral relation grew rapidly in recent years, while the friendly cooperation continued to expand and deepen in diverse fields.
Hua said that China is willing to make joint efforts with Kenya, to maintain high-level exchanges, strengthen exchanges in various aspects, including legislative bodies, and continue to deepen the bilateral friendly cooperation and coordination in international affairs.
He pledged to push China's relevant agencies and enterprises to actively participate in Kenya's infrastructure construction, to upgrade the level of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, so as to deepen the China-Kenya long-term mutual-beneficial friendly ties.
Kibaki welcomed the NPC delegation, and asked Hua to extend his greetings to President Hu. Kibaki commended that as a true friend, China has provided great and sincere help to Kenya's economic and social construction since long time ago.
The president said his country attached great importance to Kenya-China relation with himself an advocate of the "Look East Policy". He said Kenya is willing to work with China to continuously promote the bilateral relations to a higher level.
The Chinese delegation, led by Hua, finished the friendly visit and left Nairobi for Beijing in the afternoon.
