Australia's Hoy to miss 2008 Games

(BEIJING, July 5) -- The Australian Olympic Committee has recently announced that Andrew Hoy, previously Australia's top equestrian contender, will not be attending the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Hoy has participated in 6 Olympic Games, and took gold in 1992, 1996 and 2000. Nevertheless, his performance of late has not been very good; as such, his name did not make it onto the Australian delegation this time around. Stuart Tinney will also not be competing for Australia in August.

The Australian equestrian team for the Beijing Games is made up of the following 14 members.

Megan Jones

Shane Rose

Dressage: Hayley Beresford

Kristy Oatley

Heath Ryan

Rozzie Ryan.

Jumping: Edwina Alexander
