For the first time, the NBA All-Star game will be held outside of the United States. Toronto, Ontario, the home of the Raptors, earning the right to the host of the 2016 edition with deputy commissioner Adam Silver making it official on Monday.
Adam Silver, NBA Deputy Commissioner, said, "It is my privilege to announce that the 2016 NBA All-Star game will be hosted here in Toronto, Canada. Many of you here may not know that the first NBA game ever was played here in 1946, actually against the New York Knicks so it’s only fitting that the first NBA-All Star game played outside the United States would also be played here in Toronto as well. So from the league’s standpoint we’re absolutely thrilled."
