[07:35.71]“Mom, did you hear that?"my seven-year-old blurts.
[07:38.34]“妈妈,你听到了吗?”我那七岁的孩子嚷嚷了起来,
[07:40.98]“I think it was an owl family.”
[07:42.96]“我觉得那是猫头鹰一家子在叫!”
[07:44.93]“Probably,"I tell him."Just keep listening...”
[07:47.60]“很有可能,再仔细听……”
[07:50.28]Without the droning air conditioner,
[07:52.62]没有了空调机的嗡嗡响,
[07:54.96]the house is oddly peaceful,
[07:56.98]房间里飘溢着一种奇异的祥和气氛,
[07:59.01]and the unfiltered night noises seem close enough to touch.
[08:02.18]还有未经过滤的,亲近得伸手就可以触摸到的夜声。
[08:05.36]I hope I’m awake tonight when the first breeze sneaks in.

[08:15.78]As soon as I walked outside,
[08:18.00]刚出门,
[08:20.22]I was greeted with the shimmering white blanket of cold.
[08:22.79]扑面而来的是一大片晶莹雪白的冰凉。
[08:25.36]Despite the chill overwhelming my skin, inside I was warm.
[08:29.05]冷气袭来,肌肤阵阵战栗,
[08:32.73]I felt as though I could be giving off heat;
[08:35.37]而内心却温暖如初。
[08:38.01] I had the desire to stay out in this freeze for hours.
[08:40.63]觉得自己似乎能发热,因而渴望在这寒冷中长时间伫足。
[08:43.26]It was the type of day that speaks to you through its elements;
[08:46.29]这是一个大自然与你交流的日子。
[08:49.32]I took a deep breath to hear more snow was coming.
[08:52.19]我深深地吸了一口气,静听雪花飘落,源源不绝……
[08:55.07]As I walked, I looked up,
[08:57.35]漫步雪中,举目四顾,
[08:59.64]trying to realize what made this day so beautiful, so serene.
[09:02.76]我努力思索是什么竟然能够把这一天变得如此美丽和宁静。
[09:05.88]It was as if time had been put temporarily on hold and I along with it.
[09:09.51]那一刻,时间仿佛停止了,
[09:13.14]Or maybe I was the only one unpaused...

[09:18.29]Either way, the solitude was comforting,

[10:10.56]Then it was time to go and my  reverie had to end.

[10:20.36]I drifted back into this time frame, calm and cleared.
[10:23.44]思绪又转回到现实中来,而此时感觉如此平静,如此清新。
[10:26.52]Now if only I could remember where I was going.

[10:50.24]the sound of the scythe against the whetstone,

[10:55.31]and the sight of a plough team coming over the brow of a hill,

[11:00.87]for centuries the one eternal sight of England.

[11:06.72] The wild anemones in the woods in April,
[11:09.09]四月里森林中野生的银莲花,
[11:11.45]the last load at night of hay being drawn down a lane as the twilight comes on,
[11:14.99]黎明时分最后一趟满载夜草的车行进在小路上,
[11:18.53] when you can scarcely distinguish the figures of the horses
[11:21.17]那时你简直辩认不出马的身影,
