Temperatures are expected to cool down in southern China in mid August, according to forecasters.
The China central meteorological center said on Friday that rain is expected in the area from August 12 to the 15. However, there could still be days of high temperatures climbing above 35 degrees Celsius before that.
A summer heatwave has been sweeping across southern China since July, with temperatures reaching above 40 degrees Celsius in some parts for the last two days.
According to monitoring data, days with high temperatures in Hunan and Shanghai have surpassed 20 in July, the most since 1951. In Southern China, the average rainfall in the month was around 55 millimetres, 66 percent less than usual.
