Torrential rains are hitting many parts of China. In the northeastern province of Liaoning, heavy rain has caused the pier of a railway bridge near the town of Tangshan to sag. Eight trains have been stopped.

The local government has arranged for buses to transport stranded passengers, while workers carry out emergency measures to get things back on track.

Meanwhile, in the capital of southwest China’s Yunnan province, Kunming, the rainfall has reached a record high and caused extensive urban flooding.

Forecasters say the downpours sweeping the country will continue for the next three days. They warn that the unusually high precipitation in places like Sichuan province in the southwest has increased the risk of floods, mudslides and landslides.
