Chinese State Councillor Yang Jiechi has met with US National Security Advisor Tom Donilon in Beijing, ahead of a meeting between the two country’s leaders next month. Donilon and his delegation were greeted at the Diaoyutai state guest house.
Yang Jiechi said Donilon's visit plays an important role in strengthening the bilateral trust and cooperation between the two countries. US President Barack Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet early June in Rancho Mirage, California. Donilon says the meeting is "an important opportunity for the two presidents to discuss US-China relations".
They plan to talk about a wide range of bilateral, regional and global issues. President Xi Jinping is also set to visit to Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, and Costa Rica.
