As round five of the six round group stage continues. In Group F, top place Guangzhou Evergrande has just wrapped up their match against Japan’s Urawa Reds in Japan. A draw was all Guangzhou needed to advance to the knock out stage.
The Chinese champions started strong opening the scoring, but it was all bad news after that, as they surrendered three goals, and eventually fell 3-2. Despite the loss Guangzhou remain on top of the pool with 10 points.
Meanwhile, here in China. A Group E match has Jiangsu Sainty hosting group leaders FC Seoul. Last in the group, the home side are only three points behind the Korean club in the standings. So, a win for Jiangsu tonight can change the club’s fortunes, keeping their hope of reaching the next round alive. But, the Chinese squad has some work to do, as they currently trail 1-nil during the first half.
