In light of the large amounts of food wasted in the country, the Agricultural University has conducted a survey on 2700 various forms of meals in small, medium and large cities in China.
Based on a conservative estimate, the annual amount of food wasted in China tops about 50 million tons, almost one tenth of the country’s total annual grain output. About 8 million tons of protein and 3 million tons of fat are wasted annually, enough to feed 200 million people for a year.
