The Golden Grand Prix of athletics in Kawasaki, Japan has provided a weekend of celebration for the Chinese team. Following the success of China's hurdling superstar, Liu Xiang, China took gold in one of the events they do not usually excel in, the men's 100 meter sprint - although the field was without the world's leading runners.
China's Su Bingtian was running without pressure at the IAAF World Challenge Meet. Starting from the lane 7, Su's first 50 meters was superb. The 23-year-old held on to beat US veteran Michael Rodgers in 10.04 seconds. Rogers was just one hundredth of a second behind. Former world champion Kim Collins finished third.
