"The members of the Security Council are outraged by yesterday' s bomb attack in Mogadishu, for which Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility, and which has caused numerous deaths and injuries, " said a press statement issued here.

A car bomb explosion hit the vicinity of Makka Hotel, in Mogadishu, Friday evening, causing more than 30 casualties along the main street in the heart of the capital city of Somalia.

"The members of the Security Council underline their strong support for the peace and reconciliation process in Somalia and reiterate their resolve to support international and Somali efforts to remove the threat posed by Al-Shabaab to Somalia and the region," said the statement.

The 15-nation council reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security, and that any acts of terrorism are "criminal and unjustifiable regardless of their motivation, wherever and whenever and by whomsoever committed."

"The members of the Security Council remind states that they must ensure that measures taken to combat terrorism comply with all their obligations under international law, in particular international human rights, refugee and humanitarian law," the statement said.

Reiterating their determination to combat all forms of terrorism, the council members underlined that terrorist acts " will not lessen the council's resolve to support Somalia's efforts towards peace, stability and reconciliation."
