NEW YORK, May 4 (Xinhua) -- A New York-based U.S. federal court on Tuesday charged the suspect in the failed car bombing in New York's Times Square with terrorism and mass destruction.

Charges against Faisal Shahzad, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Pakistan, were included in a criminal complaint filed in the federal court in Manhattan.

Shahzad was arrested Monday night as he was trying to leave the country on a flight.
