Meanwhile, more cultural and people-to-people exchanges have been conducted over the decade, making FOCAC an emotional bond to deepen mutual understanding and traditional friendship between the two peoples and particularly exchanges among the younger generation.

With FOCAC'S promotion, a total of more than 30,000 African professionals in various sectors have participated in different training programs organized by China. Exchange programs between Chinese and African youths, women, NGOs and academic circles have multiplied.

The number of governmental scholarships has doubled between 2006 and 2009 to come to 4,000 students. In 2009 alone, over 12, 000 African students were studying in China. Contacts and cooperation between the governments in such fields as culture, education, science and technology and tourism have also been expanded, providing intellectual motivation and cultural support for China-Africa cooperation.

China-Africa Youth Festival, African Culture in Focus and Chinese Culture in Focus, Legal Forum, China-Africa Science and Technology Partnership Program, China-Africa Joint Research and Exchange Program and many other programs have been launched successively at the four ministerial conferences.

And each of them has become a platform for China-Africa exchanges in that area. China-Africa relations are expected to grow further in the next decade fuelled by strong commitments from both sides. The FOCAC which provides a framework for the growth of new type of China-Africa strategic partnership, will ensure better development of both China and the African nations.
