英语文摘:Lady Gaga leads MTV VMA nominees with record 13 nods

BEIJING, Aug. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Lady Gaga is always smashing the chart of pop music: though denied by Grammy Awards this year, Gaga still earns more chances to deliver an acceptance speech.

On the Tuesday-released nomination list of MTV Video Music Awards, she scored record-breaking 13 nominations -- the most ever received by any artist in a single year, according to reports of MTV.com.

"I'm so honored for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history," said Gaga. "Ironically, I'm even more proud it's an unlucky number: 13."

"A long time ago the world told me and my little monsters we would never be heard, together we changed the rules. God put me on Earth for three reasons: To make loud music, gay videos and cause a damn raucous. Thank you, MTV!" she added.

Including Best Pop Video and Best Female Video, Lady Gaga also became the first female artist who was nominated for two different clips in the Video of the Year category with both “Bad Romance” and “Telephone”.

Apart from Lady Gaga, Grammy-winning rapper Eminem got eight nominations, the second most this year.

B.o.B has five nominations, and Kesha has three, including the best new artist nomination.

The Video Music Awards will be held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Sept. 12.
