BEIJING, June 17 (Xinhuanet) -- R&B singer Chris Brown's lawyer has asked the California Supreme Court to delay the proceedings in the pop star's assault case.
Attorney Mark Geragos filed papers Friday seeking a postponement of Monday's preliminary hearing in order to consider whether the singer should have access to police personnel records in advance of the proceeding.
The court has yet to rule on the request.

It's the second attempt Geragos has made to delay Brown's preliminary hearing. Earlier, an appeals court turned down a similar request made on the ground that the Supreme Court has not yet ruled in a related case.
The 20-year-old Brown faces two felony charges - Assault By Means Likely to Create Great Bodily Injury and Making Criminal Threats – for his alleged assault on Rihanna on February 8 while the two were returning from a pre Grammy party.
