Iran has warned it will take further steps away from the international nuclear agreement if European nations don't deliver the economic benefits of the accord. Iran's UN ambassador Majid Takht-Ravanchi told the BBC that Tehran would take unspecified additional measures within sixty days if the Europeans didn't compensate for the losses caused by US sanctions.

For the time being, we are in the deal and we invite others to stay in the deal. Apparently, besides the US, the Europeans have not been up to the job and they have not honored all their commitments up to now. Iranian officials have also praised French efforts to reduce tensions over the issue and keep the deal alive.

The Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, James Marape has promised to track down the perpetrators of a deadly attack in his home province in the western highlands. At least fifteen women and children were murdered by gunmen said to be from a rival tribe. Charles Havilland reports.

In an attack that shocked Papua New Guinea, children and women, some of them pregnant, were shot or hacked to death. An officials said long running tribal feuds were behind the violence. The Hela provincial governor said that those targeted had offered shelter to other recent victims. Access to resources may also have been to blame. Exxon Mobile has a natural gas processing plant nearby and there are gold mines in the neighboring province. The Prime Minister Mr. Marape has said that there are not enough police in the region. Only sixty policemen serve the province's four hundred thousand people.

Crop monitoring researchers say the production of two of North Korea's most important crops is expected to decline further than originally forecast due to an ongoing drought. Geoglam, an agricultural group sent out by the G20 countries says that wheat and barley production in North Korea was originally expected to fall by twenty percent, but final yields will fall below that prediction.

Researchers in Australia say they found more than a fifth of silver goals across the country carry bacteria such as E. coli that are resistant to drugs, posing a possible threat to humans, pets and livestock. From Sydney, Phil Mercer.

It's thought the sea gulls contracted the bugs from sewage and soiled nappies while scavenging on household waste. The pathogens could then be passed back to people who touched the birds' feces, although hand-washing would reduce the risk. One sample showed resistance to a last resort antibiotic that's used for severe infections.

The American character actor Rip Torn, who forged a career in compelling, uNPRedictable roles, has died at the age of eighty-eight. Torn's work stretched through several decades in theater and films.
