Hello, I'm Julie Candler with the BBC News.

A jury in California has ordered the agrochemical company Monsanto to pay nearly 290 million dollars in damages to a man who became terminally ill after using the firm's weed killer. Dewayne Johnson, a school groundsman, alleges his cancer was caused by glyphosate in Monsanto's Roundup and Ranger Pro weed killers. His lawyer says the company knew about the cancer risk of the widely-used herbicide, but failed to warn users. Mr. Johnson's case is the first of more than 5000 similar lawsuits to come to court in the US. This is the moment the judge read out the jury's verdicts. Was the Roundup Pro or Ranger Pro design a substantial factor in causing harm to Mr. Johnson? Answer: Yes. Monsanto denies the cancer was caused by glyphosate and says it will appeal.

The UN Security Council has demanded a full investigation into an airstrike by Saudi-led forces in Yemen, which killed dozens of children. Council members agreed to review the outcome of an inquiry promised by the Saudi military. The attack on Thursday hit a school bus in the Houthi rebel-held province of Saada. At least twenty-nine children were confirmed dead. Nada Tawfik reports. Council members agreed on the need for a credible and transparent investigation after meeting behind closed doors. The shocking nature of this attack on a school bus carrying children led to widespread condemnation. Three permanent members of the Council, the UK, the US and France are strong strategic allies of Saudi Arabia. They support the coalition's fight in this proxy war to reinstate Yemen's internationally recognized government. But they have also grown concerned about the dire humanitarian situation, which has been described as the world's worst.

Tens of thousands of Romanians have rallied against the government in the capital Bucharest and other cities. More details from Tiffany Wertheimer. Scuffles broke out between protesters and the police. Some demonstrators threw bottles and tried to break through barricades. Police fired back with tear gas and water cannon. Many of these protesters are Romanians living abroad but who have returned home to join the rally, wanting an end to the country's corruption, low wages, poor living standards, and the government's interference in the justice system.
