The Prime Minister Scott Morrison has joined US President Donald Trump in opening a paper mill in Ohio, owned by Australian billionaire box maker Anthony Pratt. Mr Pratt is a prominent Australian supporter of Donald Trump and the half-billion-dollar factory fulfils a promise he made to help US industry. Mr Trump and Mr Morrison say the mill represents the strong trade and investment links between the US and Australia.
Leading scientists are warning climate change is accelerating, and that the past five years are likely to be the hottest on record. The World Meteorological Organisation has drawn together the latest scientific reports ahead of the UN climate summit. And findings show greenhouse gases in the atmosphere have reached new highs, and ice sheets are melting faster than ever.
British tour operator Thomas Cook has collapsed after it failed to secure $370 million dollars in rescue funding. There are currently more than 600,000 customers on holiday around the world with the company. The group's four airlines will be grounded and its 21,000 employees in 16 countries, including 9,000 in the UK, will be left unemployed.
And 'Game of Thrones' has won best television drama series at the Emmy awards in Los Angeles. The fantasy epic takes the award for the fourth time in its eighth and final season. Phoebe Waller-Bridge's 'Fleabag' swept the comedy categories, taking home best series, lead actress, best writing and directing.
