Instead of watching the performance at a distance, audiences now can become a part of an immersive opera being staged in Beijing.
Silent Opera from London is now performing an adapted version of Mozart's masterpiece, Don Giovanni in the Chinese capital.
Director and Costume Designer Daisy Evans says the cast aim to dissolve the barriers between the audience and the story they are watching.
"I mean it's another really important part of being able to be in a space with him. It's that your seeing is exactly the world that he's seeing. And you are sitting in an exactly the same chair he's sitting in. I want to make that happen for this opera, because it's a very important part of engaging for audiences."
This digitally-re-mastered version of Mozart's Don Giovanni will be staged tonight and tomorrow in Taikoo Li, Sanlitun, downtown Beijing.
