China has road tested its homegrown transit elevated bus - or TEB - in Qinhuangdao, north China's Hebei Province.
The single compartment is 22-meters long and 8-meters wide, and can carry at least 300 passengers at a time.
The key feature is that the passenger compartment is raised up above other vehicles on the road, allowing cars to pass underneath.
The design team say the TEB is expected to reach speeds of 60 kilometers per hour and and crucially reduce traffic congestion by 35 percent in city areas.
The novel transport vehicle has already attracted the attention of governments in Brazil, France, India and Indonesia.
