The Chinese ministry of foreign affairs urges Japan to make contributions to the peace and stability of the region and to boost the trust of neighbouring countries.
Spokesperson Hua Chunying calls on Japan to stick to the principle of peaceful development.
"For some historical reasons, neighbouring countries in Asia and the international community are highly concerned with Japan's policy in military and security issues. We hope Japan learns lessons from history and values the security concerns of its Asian neighbors and is prudent to take action in the area of military and security. "
The spokesperson made the comments after Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe didn't deny the possibility of providing military support for US forces in areas "of great matter" while he was being questioned by the parliament.
