Taiwan Leader Ma Ying-jeo has marked the 7th anniversary of his taking office by vowing to continue contributing to the island's development during the final year of his current term.
"In the coming year, I will continue to push for industrial restructuring, encourage more young people to start their own businesses and promote Taiwan's participation in more international trade cooperation."
Ma says the direction for Taiwan's development has been set and that the achievements in developing the cross-straits relationship with the Chinese mainland should be cherished.
He also notes that a permanent peace across the straits relies not only on trade, but also exchanges in the areas of education and culture.
