World number one Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland shot a two-under 70 and is tied for 17th place after the third round of the Players Championship in Florida on Saturday.
The total leaves him 4 strokes out of the lead.
"I don't know, I played really good golf today. I think I hit 13 or 14 fairways, I hit a lot of greens, gave myself a lot of chances, and just being very frustrated on these greens and not seeing a lot of putts drop. So hopefully that will change a little, it can change tomorrow, but tee to green, it's right there and just need to get a few to fall."
Chris Kirk shot a four-under 68 to take a one-shot lead.
Two-time Players Championship winner Tiger Woods posted a pair of double bogeys on par five holes on the way to a three-over 75, leaving him three-over for the tournament.
