At least 7,040 persons have been confirmed dead in the aftermath of last Saturday's devastating quake in Nepal. 14,000 others were injured.
Insufficient water, food supplies as well as poor sanitation are also posing a threat to thousands living in makeshift tents.
Divesh is one of the residents in capital city Kathmandu. He says the city is facing an extreme shortage of water with tankers being their only hope.
"We are relying on water tankers. Earlier the situation wasn't this bad but it took a turn for the worse when the earthquake struck. The tankers are only able to deliver water to those areas the roads to which have not been blocked by rubble."
Nepalese residents have started to receive measles vaccinations at health centers to protect themselves and their children against a possible outbreak.
A 30 year-old Bhaktapur resident Kapita Prajapati was waiting to get one such vaccination.
"Here in a group, we may suffer from communicable diseases and to prevent for that, we came here to get the vaccination."
The World Health Organization and partner groups have been deploying teams to affected areas supply and help those in need.
They said they have yet to see critical situations, but there are high chances of an outbreak of diarrhea and other illnesses.
