The French authorities are reportedly planning a series of traffic control measures later today.
Cars with an odd number license plate have been banned from the roads in an attempt to try to cut down on air pollution.
The French capital saw a massive increase in air pollution levels on Monday, leading to a lot of frustration among drivers in Paris.
"We are hostages. It would be good if the authorities rather looked more to carmakers which make cars that pollute. I am pretty sure that somewhere you have innovative solutions which do not pollute," said Mireille Castel, a driver stopped by the police.
Around 750-police officers were mobilized in Paris yesterday to enforce the traffic restrictions.
Similar measures were implemented just over a year ago in the French capital after smog reached dangerous levels.
