World number two Roger Federer launched his bid for a record fifth title at Indian Wells with a victory over Argentina's Diego Schwartzman which lasted little over an hour.
Roger Federer talks about his victory in the match.
"I was happy. I was trying at least. Sometimes I was successful playing on my terms and I know there are certain things I can do better but for a first round is a good start."
Federer who is competing at Indian Wells for a 15th time, will next face Italy's Andreas Seppi, who stunned him with a four-set defeat in the third round of the Australian Open in January.
Britain’s Andy Murray has just won his game 6-1 3-6 6-1 and will play France’s Adrian Mannarino in round four.
Murra swept through the final set after Kohlschreiber had found his form to force a decider.
And over in the WTA:
Serena Williams has advanced to the fourth round, apparently enjoying her return to Indian Wells after a 14-year absence.
She beat up-and-comer Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan 6-2, 6-0 in 53 minutes.
