China's top political advisor will visit Vietnam later this month.
Yu Zhengsheng, Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, will make the official visit at the invitation of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and the Fatherland Front of Vietnam.
It comes after the Chinese and Vietnamese presidents' pledged to handle maritime issues through dialogue and to strengthen bilateral relations.
On the sidelines of the APEC meetings in November, President Xi Jinping met with his Vietnamese counterpart Truong Tan Sang in Beijing.
President Xi called on both sides to cement the improving momentum of relations between the two countries by enhancing communications.
