Peace talks between the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia rebel group and the Colombian government have resumed in Cuba's capital, Havana.

Negotiations broke off last month over the kidnapping of a Colombian Army general.

Humberto de la Calle, the representative for the Colombian government delegation, strenuously denied the government had made a secret agreement with FARC to resume negotiations.

"In a recent report, Senator Alvaro Uribe published supposed demands by FARC to re-initiate the peace talks. This was not even put forward by FARC, nor would we have accepted it if they had."

He made the comments after former Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, a vocal opponent to the peace talks with FARC, claimed that the group had asked for a list of demands to be met for the peace talks to resume.

A FARC negotiator claimed that the group has never designed or implemented attacks against the civilian population.
