The company responsible for the rocket that blew up over a NASA launch complex in Virginia says it's disappointed that they haven't been able to fulfill their obligation.

The Executive Vice-President of Orbital Sciences, Frank Culbertson, says they hope to fly again.

"However, something went wrong, and we will find out what that is. We will determine the route cause and we will correct that, and we'll come here and fly at Wallops again. Hopefully in the very near future."

An unmanned commercial supply rocket was bound for the International Space Station.

It exploded moments after lift-off on Tuesday evening, with debris falling in flames over the launch site.

No one was hurt, but some facilities were damaged.

This is the first catastrophic launch in NASA's commercial spaceflight effort.

NASA is increasingly relying on private US companies to make station deliveries.

For more on this, we spoke earlier to Dr. Aaron Knoll with the Space Centre of Surry University in the UK.
