The senior US envoy on North Korea policy is calling on Pyongyang to release three US citizens detained in North Korea.
Glyn Davies has made the comments as part of his meetings with South Korean officials.
"We call on North Korea to grant them amnesty, to release them, allow them to return to their families."
At the same time, Davies has also been pressing the Chinese government for help in dealing with North Korea.
"China has to be at the centre piece of efforts to deal with the challenge that North Korea presents to all of us. China, we believe, accepts that responsibility, is willing to step up to play its role."<
