With just one day to go until the opening of the Asian Games in South Korea, a number of complaints are already being raised about issues at the athlete's village in Incheon.

CRI's Xu Fei has more from the city.

Incheon Asiad Athletes Village

The athlete's village is made up of 22-hundred rooms in 22 newly-built apartment buildings.

As well as the Residential areas for athletes and coaches, there is also an International Zone where Asian Games participants can meet and hang out.

Wang Fei is a member of China's women's football team.

"As we have a break in the evening, we can go to the entertainment venues where we can play table tennis, billiards, and surf the Internet and even play on shooting simulators to relax."

Fu Bo, interim head coach China's men's football team, arrived in Incheon late last week.

He says so far, he and his team are satisfied with the accommodations in the village.

"There are similar choices to Chinese cuisine, many of which we are fond of. We are able to rest well in the athlete's village, which impresses me like a big family."

But unlike their Chinese peers, a number of other participants from countries outside East Asia don't seem as satisfied.

One of the issues appears to be a lack of food options for participants from Muslim countries, whose diets mandate the food be halal.

Talib Al-Saffar heads the Iraqi delegation.

"The food, especially for Iraq, an Islamic country, is not ok for us, because too many kinds of food haven't been offered in that village. Meanwhile, the apartment is not comfortable for the athletes because seven people have to share an apartment with just one bathroom. That's not convenient for athletes."

Rasheed Ahmed Ayaz, the manager of the Maldives football team, says compared to the Asian Games in Guangzhou in 2010, the conditions in Incheon leave a lot to be desired.

"Guangzhou is the best. Here it is not so good as (Guangzhou). They have some Halal Food, but that's not much good either. They don't equip rooms with the air-conditioning system. They don't have things like fence. Rooms are not good."

The athletes' village is also located a 40 minute drive from the main stadium.

For CRI, I'm Xu Fei in Incheon.
