Germany says that the destroyed chemical weapons from Syria will pose no more risk.

This comes after the US Navy ship Cape Ray responsible for destroying Syrian chemical weapons arrived in Germany.

The weapons were destroyed aboard the US Navy ship Cape Ray in international waters, and the cargo was set to be transported on trucks to its final destination at a military facility in Munster.

The US Deputy Chief of Mission in Germany, James Melville, said American and German workers achieved a great success in neutralising the deadliest chemical weapons aboard the Cape Ray.

Dr. Ralf Brauksieper is the German Defence Ministry State Secretary.

"These are no more chemical weapons. This phase is over - both judicial and factual. It is normal industrial waste, like industrial waste is disposed of and stored in other parts of Germany. This is what happens here, too. This poses no more danger, so it is not a - so to speak - risk."

Syria agreed to give up its chemical arsenal last year when US President Barack Obama threatened missile strikes in retaliation for a chemical attack on a rebel-held suburb of Damascus, believed to have killed more than 1-thousand people.
