U.N. special envoy David Nabarro has urged an end to airline bans to Ebola-affected countries to allow aid agencies to bring in goods.

The comment comes as Western African governments closed borders and halted flights from affected countries in a bid to stop the virus.

Nabbaro, Ebola response coordinator for the UN, says the flight bans have affected international aid.

"The understandable decision of some airline to not continue to fly into Freetown or Monrovia or Conakry has an enormous impact and ability to bring in staff

in and to bring in goods. So on the one hand, yes we understand it, but on the other hand it making the job a whole lot harder."

World Health Organization officials also reinforced the message, saying the WHO believes that people infected with Ebola should not be traveling on

airplanes.

Countries including Rwanda, Gabon, Senegal, Cameroon and South Africa have ordered travel bans to the affected countries.

Over 14-hundred people have been killed since the outbreak began in March.
