American actor Denzel Washington is to receive the prestigious Donostia Award at the 62nd San Sebastian film festival.
59 year old Washington will also open the festival on September 19th with his latest film "The Equalizer".
The award is an honorific award, first handed out to Gregory Peck in 1986.
Some previous winners of the Donostia include Lauren Bacall, Olive Stone and Michael Caine. The 2013 award was given to Carman Maura and Hugh Jackman.
This will not be Washington's first award, during his long career he has won two Golden Globes, an honorary BAFTA, as well as the Sundance Festival Tribute to Independent Vision Award – just to name a few.
The sun dance film festival is the most prestigious film festival in Spain, running from the 19th to the 27th of September this year.
