Afghan presidential contender Abdullah Abdullah has rejected the preliminary results of the presidential runoff announced Monday, saying that he is the winner and the people of Afghanistan want him to announce government.

Abdullah has also accused outgoing President Hamid Karzai, the election commission and his rival's team of committing fraud, warning that the country would plunge into crisis if the clean votes aren't filtered from the faked ones.

However, Abdullah says that he supports a united Afghanistan.

Haroun Mir is a publicist.

"So many elements that they want to take advantage of the situation, and for the reason they have to reach a deal as soon as possible before their political base goes out of control, and other elements will try to manipulate or try to influence it."

Abdullah secured 45 percent of some seven million votes in the April 5 presidential elections against his rival Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai who garnered 31.6 percent.

In the preliminary results of the June 14 presidential runoff announced by election commission on Monday, Abdullah garnered around 43 percent of more than eight million votes, while Ghani secured over 56 percent.

Abdullah has also confirmed that U.S. President Barack Obama and his Secretary of State John Kerry had called him and said that the elections result should be legitimate to have the support of Afghan people and international community.
