Huang Mengfu, chairman of All China Federation of Industry and Commerce, said at the opening ceremony that Chinese companies were faced with increasing opportunities for overseas investment.
"Chinese private enterprise now has increased their aggregate investment overseas. And the investment structure is more and more diversified. They are quite active in both developing countries and developed countries. Also our government has launched a series of measures to encourage overseas investment."
Some companies, especially private enterprises, have demonstrated their strong vitality. And they are still looking for new opportunities to go global and transform into a great momentum in the global market.
Leung Chun-ying, Hong Kong Chief Executive, said the corporation between Chinese mainland and Hong Kong offers the island a great opportunity to pursue its goal of serving the country as well as aiding Hong Kong.
"Figures released by the Ministry of Commerce showed the direct investment from Hong Kong in the mainland totaled 37.3 billion dollars in the first half of 2012, making up 63% of its total investment. Meanwhile, Hong Kong has become the gateway for mainland enterprise to go global. 65% of mainland investment is destined or executed through Hong Kong."
The persistence of a strike brought about by the global financial crises and a stagnant economy are leading to changes in the world economy's structure.
Held annually, China Overseas Investment Summit aims at building itself into a world-level internationalized platform for the exchange and connection of Chinese and foreign investments.
