In no more than 24 hours, the 2nd Beijing International Film Festival will finally raise its curtain, providing eager movie fans with a glimpse into Chinese and international cinema.
During this 6-day long event, from April 23rd to April 28th, there is much on offer for people to enjoy.
Well-known filmmakers and super stars from all over the world will shine on the red carpet at the opening ceremony. Hot discussions regarding film technology and possible co-operations will be heard as part of the Film Magic Beijing Forum.
Also, there will be film music concert and a Film Carnival on offer, giving people the chance to find out fascinating things about the industry.
One more exciting thing to note is the attendance of Cameron, the world movie icon. Cameron is set to appear on the red carpet and give a speech about 3D technology with his team on the following day.
Li Chunliang, Director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Radio, Film and Television, says the attendance of James Cameron is a sign of recognition of the importance of the Beijing International Film Festival.
"As a world famous film director, especially for his contribution to 3D movies, his attendance at this year's festival means a lot. It shows that the Beijing International Film Festival is regarded as professional. And his attendance will also help benefit the level of communication within film industry between China and the rest of the world."
Last year's film festival was a great success. This year, the organizing committee has paid more attention to the topic of international communication. There will be 260 selected films shown at 30 different locations across Beijing and 21 selected Chinese and Foreign documentaries will be unveiled during the festival.
Pang Wei, spokeswoman for The 2nd Beijing International Film Festival, says that with the aid of all these different movies on offer, it is hoped that Chinese people can gain a better understanding of films from different places.
"We haven't just selected movies from developed countries, such as America or European countries, we've also selected movies from countries that are not that famous for producing film. We hope that Chinese people can learn more about other countries' films and how they live their life by watching all the different kinds of films that will be on offer."
The opening ceremony of the 2nd Beijing International Film Festival will be held in the evening at the Beijing National Convention Center.
Consisting of the Red Carpet Session and the Opening Performance, the event will be international in its approach while utilizing Chinese characteristics and the Beijing style in order to demonstrate the unique beauty of film culture.
