College seniors in Beijing are busy checking their schedules for recruiting fairs. Around one hundred such events have already been scheduled for October and November.

Hao Jian is a consultant from Zhaopin Limited, one of China's leading human resources service providers.

"Campus recruitment has started earlier this year as optimism over the economic recovery is spreading and companies compete for human resources."

Statistics from 51job.com, one of the country's biggest online headhunters, show that 90% of recruiters plan to search for new employees on campus, and that job offers in 2010 are up nearly 50% from 2009. (www.hXen.com)

Bucking the trend of previous years, many home-grown corporations can now be found among the campus recruiters, competing for talent with their foreign counterparts. Here is Hao Jian again.

"State-owned companies have proved to be the major driving force behind China's economic growth amidst the financial crisis. They are attracting an increasing number of young graduates and offer secure employment and good career opportunities."

Insiders expect the job market for graduates in 2010 to continue to see growing demand in the areas of IT, consultancy services and fast moving consumer goods. New expansion is also forecasted in the pharmaceutical manufacturing, engineering and energy sectors.
