广播听力: Establishing a Zhongnanhai Press Spokesperson can promote transparency of policy

 

China's Outlook Weekly reported that some Chinese experts have called for the establishment of a spokesperson mechanism in Zhongnanhai, China's central government compound.

A commentary from the Nanfang Daily newspaper agreed with such a call.

It says that some policies made by the central government can not be easily conveyed to the public, especially when policies are opposed to the interests of local government.

One example is a tax cut policy affecting peasants was kept secret by a local government because of fears that the local tax department would lose some of their incomes.(www.hxen.com)

The article says a press spokesman can deliver such polices immediately to the public via the media.

In this way, governmental decisions can be transferred to both the public and officials at different levels.

This can help to ensure that all policies from the central government can be effectively and correctly executed.
