Wenhui Daily carried an article on Sunday saying that although there are many advantages to this approach, some negative side effects may also crop up.(www.hXen.com)
The article quotes Zhang Hengrui, a consulting expert, as saying that the experience of studying in U.S. high schools can help universities better recognize students' scores, behavior and achievements. It will also do good for students to be more independent. All these can make students more competitive than children who choose to study in domestic high schools when applying to U.S. universities.
But the expert says since children begin senor high school at around 15 or 16, many preparations should be made to avoid negative effects that may occur when they find themselves in a totally unfamiliar place.
The expert offers two suggestions. First, parents should tell their children the purpose of studying in a foreign high school in advance. Second, after the kids go abroad, parents should stay informed of their children's situation and offer care and guidance from home.
