Anchor: Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping has spoken highly about the existing cooperation between China and Latin America, highlighting the need to strengthen friendly and reciprocal cooperation in the pursuit of common objectives.
Xi Jinping made the remarks in Venezuela when addressing a seminar attended by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and entrepreneurs from both countries.
Reporter: After meeting with his Venezuelan counterpart Ramon Carrizales, the Chinese vice President addressed the opening of the seminar.
He emphasized the importance of China and Venezuela pursuing common development objectives.
"Both sides should pursue common development on the basis of mutual trust, mutual assistance and mutual benefits; meanwhile, we should strengthen dialogue and expand common ground to promote our strategic partnership and pursue reciprocal cooperation."
Xi Jinping also said that energy cooperation is a priority and expressed hopes that both sides could deepen strategic partnerships in this field.
Responding to Xi Jinping, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez pledged that his country would provide China with enough resources.
"In regards to energy, China will have our support, our experience and our resources."
Since China and Venezuela established a strategic partnership for common development in 2001, cooperative relations between the two countries have developed rapidly.
Venezuela is now China's fifth largest Latin American trading partner.
Xi Jinping added that strengthening friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Venezuela is also conducive to the development of China-Latin America relations as a whole.
"As the biggest developing country in the world, China plans to deepen cooperation with Latin America, one of the most important developing regions in the world."
He also emphasized that efforts should be made to enhance mutual political trust between China and Latin America, bearing in mind the importance of long-term development and the promotion of cultural exchanges.
In addition, Xi Jinping introduced China's preparations for the Shanghai world EXPO in 2010 and sent a warm invitation to all the enterprises from Venezuela and Latin America to get involved.
