Visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Peruvian counterpart Alan Garcia attended a business breakfast together with the two countries business leaders in Lima on Thursday.
"The Chinese government attaches great importance to developing friendly cooperation with Peru. One of the aims of my visit is to exchange ideas with President Garcia on ways to advance our friendship, increase mutual trust, expand cooperation, and seek common development so as to bring Sino-Peruvian relations to a new level."
Recalling the fruitful results of economic and trade relations since China and Peru established diplomatic ties more than 30 years ago, President Hu Jintao says China is willing to work with Peru to further bilateral relations in various fields. He proposed cooperation in areas of mining, infrastructure, business investment as well as cooperation in improving public services by government institutions.
President Garcia spoke highly of the contributions China is making to deal with the global financial crisis, and said Peru is proud to be a strategic partner with China. He said the bilateral free trade deal between the two nations will surely play an important part in increasing employment and promoting economic growth for both Peru and China.
"We hope more Chinese enterprises will come to invest in Peru. We are willing to further promote the long term strategic partnership relations with China, and enhance bilateral cooperation in mining, infrastructure construction as well as financial sectors. Later on Thursday, President Hu Jintao addressed the Peruvian Congress and put forward five proposals to boost Sino-Latin American ties that includes maintaining high-level exchanges and contacts, optimizing trade structure, increasing mutual investment and enhancing communication and coordination on their stances.
