The Olympic Media village has opened to house journalists from around the world. Also known as the Green Homeland, it is the biggest media village in Olympic Games history, covering an area of over 10 hectares.

Staff from the Olympic News Service, or ONS, represents the first batch of residents to the village.

Matthew Clayton, from Australia, is among the first to check in.

"It actually looks a little better than I was expecting. When you travel around and stay in a lot of different places more often than not you probably get a bit under whelmed, but this is great. This is exactly what you need for a month of hard work. "(Www.hxen.com)

The village is only 10-15 minutes away by bus to the Main Press Center and International Broadcast Center. The residential compound has around 6,000 rooms on offer.

The media village has established a whole set of living facilities, such as a post office, bank, supermarket, gyms, swimming pool, laundry and shuttle buses, some of which will operate round-the-clock during the Beijing Games.
