广播听力： Wen Jiabao Calls for Smooth Transporation During Festival

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has called on the country to ensure the smooth and safe running of transportation during the Spring Festival holiday.

Wen made the remark when he was inspecting transportation hubs in Beijing and neighboring Hebei Province.

He said bad weather this year has posed great difficulties on transportation, and the government is calling on related departments to do their best to ensure passengers' safety.

"The Spring Festival period is the busiest time for transportation staff. The work is for ordinary people's happiness and the entire society's stability. I would like to say 'thank you' to all the staff."

Wen also emphasized the importance of regaining power supplies in the southern part of the country, where heavy snowfalls have recently cut supplies of coals and electricity.

He called upon regions affected by snowfalls to smooth transportation for energy.

In addition, the government is urging these regions to ensure electricity for households and key places like hospitals and schools.

Wen also said that necessities such as food, vegetables and meat are also among the priorities for the transportation sector. He stressed that smooth delivery not only ensure sufficient food supplies, but also helps to maintain proper price levels during the festival.
