Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has endorsed U.S. hopes for an Israeli-Palestinian peace plan this year and said he will work hand in hand with the United States and other nations to make it happen.
U.S. President George W. Bush, closing his eight-day trip to the Mideast, said "nations in the neighbourhood" are willing to help the Israelis and the Palestinians reach a Mideast peace deal. Bush has also expressed apprecition for the Egpytian efforts in the process.
"The leadership in Israel and the leadership of the Palestinians is committed to a two-state solution. And I know nations in the neighbourhood are willing to help, particularly yourself. And I appreciate your strong, constructive support for the process." Besides Egypt, Bush has also visited Israel, the Palestinian territories, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia during his eight-day Mideast visit that aimed at winning Arab support for a peace deal and isolating Iran.
